My name is Scheavonna Nesheim and I was born and raised in Gaithersburg, MD—approximately forty five minutes from Washington, D.C. and Baltimore, MD. Growing up, I always enjoyed helping the librarian catalog books as well as helping my teachers in the classroom—my favorite task was writing the daily schedule on the chalkboard! I attended Towson University in Maryland before moving to California in 2009 and completed a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies from National University.
Upon earning my degree, I began teaching in 2014 in Oceanside Unified School District starting with fifth grade as a long-term substitute. I decided to pursue a graduate program for a master’s in teaching specializing in mathematics in 2016 while I continued to reside in California with my then fiancé. Since then, I have taught kindergarten and first grade respectively prior to transitioning out of the classroom to support teachers as the Read by Grade 3 learning strategist in 2018.
I am currently in the process of completing a doctorate degree in organizational leadership to become an administrator in the years to come, and I am looking forward to continuing my work as a literacy specialist to encourage every Wynn Challenger to be successful. This will be the best year yet!
